artist statement.
In this day and age, we have more ways to present ourselves than just what we say or do. This series of images is an exploration of the digital ages’ creation of one’s self and how we create these false digital versions of ourselves. The internet allows society to form a false digital shell, only loosely based on who we truly are. With a surplus of technology at our fingertips, we can become whatever we want, regardless if we have the characteristics to back these ideas. I am attempting to represent the digital shell that so many people rely on. These prints are an example of a false creation of a digital identity and that is shown through the contrasting nature of the materials. The analog silver gelatin print goes deeper than the surface representing ones true identity, and the ink loosely sits on the surface of the image representing the shell of digital creation.
